S.W.A.T.
CBS’ hit show ‘S.W.A.T.’ has tasked Twisted Media with creating interfaces reflecting a modern command center with state-of-the-art crime fighting technology, giving the good guys the edge over the bad guys. At S.W.A.T. H.Q., technologies like data collection, GPS tracking, and digital cartography move the story forward by providing intel on where the dirty business is going down.
Maps are some of ‘S.W.A.T.’s’ crime-fighting cornerstones. Using digital elevation models (DEM), the Twisted design team zeroes in on the actual location of the shoot to give the graphic added authenticity. We also provide 3D topographic elevations of the area.
‘S.W.A.T.’ has access to all the best toys, and what operation can be successfully executed without all of the info on those toys? Twisted’s team ensures that officers are informed mid-route using unique data screens on all their portable devices, whether they are in a military-grade airship or watching from a tactical drone.
A challenge we enjoy on this show is creating technology that doesn’t necessarily exist on a graphics level. In these instances we access our inner ‘computer genius cop’ to provide imaginative visuals to display processes that involve only code or hardware.
And ‘S.W.A.T.’ has to move quickly, right? Another fun challenge this season was when an operation changed and H.Q. went from 10 to 50 monitors overnight. The entire TM design team jumped in to meet the challenge together. We successfully created cutting edge technology for the ‘S.W.A.T.’ team, and our proprietary playback system was locked, loaded and ready to feed the new array of screens.
We look forward to seeing what the bad guys will try next!
